Our customizable development planning process is intended to hone goals into clear, communally agreed upon development opportunities which ultimately surround an individual with a “development group” supporting them in taking ownership over their development as we pursue clarity around their vocational calling together. Ultimately, Roots to Fruits will facilitate a communal process resulting in a quarterly, six month or one year plan with actionable experiences helping an individual pursue larger-scale goals.
Owning our development can be a critical part of the vocational growth process. Occasionally, what’s needed for our growth is those above us in leadership providing training, coaching or mentorship. Sometimes though, we can be content to blame organizational systems or leadership for our lack of growth when what’s truly needed is us becoming motivated to have personal buy-in towards our vocational calling. We need to take goals that might be nebulous and turn them “SMART.” We need to take lofty or long-term projects and break them into concrete experiences that stack into rhythms which will develop us into the purposeful vocational workers God has designed us to be (Ephesians 2:10).
